I'm too stressed/busy/sick to worry about blogging right now.
I have 10 days left in Costa Rica, about 23093 projects to finish up, say my goodbyes, pack, get paperwork done AND try to get over a cold.
I will be back once I'm in the US. See you then!

Go Go Go
So I did so great on Monday and Tuesday...went for runs and stretched and got my sweat on.
Then the pereza (laziness) set in. I wanted to run, but I also wanted to sleep. I wanted to exercise, but I also didn't feel like having people look at me weird.
Lame excuses, I know.
Today I was fully planning on going (really, I was!). And then the thunderstorms and rain set in, at about 12, and still haven't stopped. I normally like to go at about 4:30/5pm when it's a little cooler.
Needless to say, I didn't go. Or do any other type of exercise. I did clean though! Thats a plus...a HUGE plus!
Tonight will be pretty interesting. There are fiestas in the school this weekend, and tonight they will be watching a movie, telling stories and then a lunada (no word, sorry!) hosted by yours truly.
At the lunada we will (hopefully) have a bonfire (but I doubt it) and play games, tell a ghost story and have games! We're also having the sexiest legs contest for men (my friends idea!). It should be pretty fun :)
So while browsing blogs, I found a really great one that is currently offering a challenge: 52 Days Til Summer Challenge! by Ashley at dancing through life.
It's a challenge to remotivate yourself and remember why you wanted to lose weight in the beginning. I did kind of start this on May 1st by trying to recommit to exercise and healthy eating.
So I'm going to do this challenge, and you all should check it out too!
To Start,
My reasons are:
1) Upcoming wedding
2) To be the healthiest me I've ever been
3) To feel comfortable in my own skin
4) To wear that beautiful bikini proudly
5) To be able to accept compliments (and know they're true!)
My commitments are:
1) Exercise, Exercise, Exercise. I want to make it atleast 4-5 workouts a week!
2) Pay attention to healthy eating. While this isn't the easiest here, it isn't the hardest thing either.
3) Starting working on getting rid of those negative thoughts!
While I may be a little late starting on this, I did kinda start this week by updating my pages (check 'em out!).
I'm going to be seriously working on these 5 reasons (i.e. printing them out and putting them all around me) & also my commitments! It's time to get super serious and lose the gut!
Any healthy plans for your weekend?

And then....
I slept...all morning.
Getting up at 5:30am with nothing to do is annoying. I walked up to the little store to buy milk, which hurt my legs (mostly thighs) even more and came home and made breakfast.
Breakfast was pretty yummy.
I made a smoothie with:
1 banana
1 tbs peanut butter
250ml skim milk
1 scoop chocolate flavored protein powder stuff
Ice
Blend and enjoy!
It's pretty filling, enough that it made me all comfty and coozy on my bed reading news and I fell asleep for 2 hours. I wasn't even that tired when I started reading. oh well.
Today has been pretty good so far! Left over veggie soup with 1/2 cup rice for lunch, then I'm going to make the tuna goodness and salad for dinner.
Hopefully the rain stops and I can go for a walk or something. Otherwise, I'll be doing a video without the sound in my house (gotta love old laptops where something breaks every other week!).
I made a goal this morning to NOT EVEN THINK of touching (or eating) the Easter candy, and so far so good!
I've also decided to make a rewards system for myself, which is the following:
-5lbs: Manicure & Pedicure
-10lbs: New heels
-15lbs: Going out top (to rock with the heels!)
-20lbs: New & cute gym clothes
-25lbs: Spa Day (hopefully with some gfs)
-30lbs: New Tattoo (to Geiner's great dislike)
-35lbs/Goal: Bikini & Shopping Trip
These goals mean that:
1) I need a good job,
2) I need to start saving ASAP.
So while these are my goals, they may have to wait until I'm employed to actually happen.
Do you make goals for yourself to keep you motivated? What do you use as "rewards"?
PS--I'd like you to notice that I'm getting much better about blogging again. I just fell off the wagon for a little bit, it happens. I'm back and on track now!

Success...kinda
Yesterday, after teaching 7 (completely insane and rowdry) kids an art program "Arte por la Paz" (Art for Peace) in the school, I walked up to the top of my town, visited a friend for about 20 mins and then...
Now, this may be nothing for you runners out there, but it's a lot for me. I've never really enjoyed it, my knees tend to start hurting right away, I get out of breath, and I"m one of those people that sweats, like alot, alot.
As I mentioned yesterday, I started doing the Couch to 5k program and I downloaded some podcasts that have good music and tell me when to run and when to walk (i.e. taking the thinking out of it) and they really help me!
So far I liked it (my legs didn't) but I really need to find a better place to run here. The sports field is muddy from all the rain and the roads are hilly (I'd prefer flat, but I would get some awesome legs!) and full of rocks and holes, and that makes me nervous. However, for now, it'll do!
Other then swimming, this is the only exercise I've found where all I focus on is my breathing (which I'm horrible at) and everything else on my brain just slips away. woohoo!
I'm even in "talks" with a friend about signing up for a 5k at the end of summer to really motivate me and keep going!
Now comes the "kinda" part, I did have to stop a few times, my stomach started hurting and I got a side stitch. So it was a productive workout, but I need to work on these things. Alot of it is breathing and what I'll eat before I go running, which I researched and now have ideas of good, protein-filled, light meals to eat!
So, for anyone else you'd like to start running, here's the link to Couch to 5k!
That's all I have for now. Maybe more will happen throughout my day (it's only 7:30 here!)

Personal Challenges
Upon blog browsing, I found this great article on my friends tumblr page and I wanted to share it with you.
I am also going to make this a personal challenge to myself to complete these within this year! There aren't alot, but I want them to become habits, rather then one time things I just do.
What do you all think?

I am also going to make this a personal challenge to myself to complete these within this year! There aren't alot, but I want them to become habits, rather then one time things I just do.
What do you all think?
Health:
- Drink plenty of water.
- Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar.
- Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants.
- Live with the 3 E’s - Energy, Enthusiasm and Empathy
- Play more games.
- Read more books than you did in 2010.
- Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.
- Sleep for 7 hours.
- Take a 10-30 minutes walk daily. And while you walk, smile.
Personality:
- Don’t compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
- Don’t have negative thoughts or things you cannot control. Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.
- Don’t over do. Keep your limits.
- Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
- Don’t waste your precious energy on gossip.
- Dream more while you are awake.
- Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
- Forget issues of the past. Don’t remind your partner with his/her mistakes of the past. That will ruin your present happiness.
- Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don’t hate others.
- Make peace with your past so it won’t spoil the present.
- No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
- Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
- Smile and laugh more.
- You don’t have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
Society:
- Call your family often.
- Each day give something good to others.
- Forgive everyone for everything.
- Spend time with people over the age of 70 & under the age of 6.
- Try to make at least three people smile each day.
- What other people think of you is none of your business.
- Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.
Life:
- Do the right thing!
- Get rid of anything that isn’t useful, beautiful or joyful.
- However good or bad a situation is, it will change.34. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
- The best is yet to come.
- Your Inner most is always happy. So, be happy.
Also, as promised (to myself) I am starting Couch 2 5k today after I teach in the school and before english class. It needs to cool down a little bit and it'll be better then hanging out and eating junk food! Results to come tomorrow on how I feel :)

Welcome to May!
It is officially my last 26 days of my life as a Peace Corps Volunteer.
It's so weird that this "title" that has defined me for the past 26 months of my life, will no longer be. As Americans, we define ourselves with our job titles and work positions and how much we make. Well, as of May 27th, I'll be "unemployed". The worst title in the book as far as our culture is concerned.
However, I'm going to make an hontest effort to not worry so much about the "title" of what I do and more on who I am. I'd prefer to think of myself in terms of the good I'm doing then just as "unemployed."
Just a little food for thought.
Today is the start of May and almost all things summer related! If you're from Maryland you know that means the start of crab season and Old Bay going on everything!
Which means amazing afternoons filled with friends, sun, laughter and good food. I. Can't. Wait.
However, until then I have alot to accomplish here, and alot of goodbyes (or hasta luego) to start saying. I'm fairly busy trying to finish up my various projects (english class, business plans, tourism groups, boy scouts, etc, etc, etc).
BUT...I really need to get back into the habit of exercising atleast once a day. This is going to start tomorrow. Today I was a complete and total bum.
Easter candy got the best of me today and so did the rain, which means I was feeling lazy and still haven't changed out of my PJs. oops.
Tomorrow I'm going to charge up my iPod and attempt to work on some Couch 2 5k business and get this program started (and also the exercise/weightloss business going again)!
And let's be hontest...I have not only my wedding (in however many months), but I also have a few friends (really great friends) weddings coming up as well and I'd prefer to look great for them also!
Here's to a healthy and happy first week of May!
