Pause
I'm pressing pause until I'm back in my town. The food here is too yummy. Sorry. I'll get back back on the wagon like on Saturday. :)

Lesson Learned
Don't try to be hardcore and kick rocks like boys in work-boots. When you're in running shoes. Lesson Learned.
I did this yesterday. And then when I took my shoe off, the side of my foot is bloody (not super, but enough) and swollen and has a lovely bruise. This also means that it hurts to walk. Which means it's putting off the exercise I promised the whole-wide-internet-world I was going to do this week. UGH.
I wish I had better updates this week, other then being a klutz. I now have 2 bruises (one is mysterious and super ugly) on my legs and this lovely one on my foot.
It HASSSSSSS to be better by Tuesday so I can workout in the fancy hotel gym and pool! Otherwise, I'll make myself worse by working out and my foot dying the next day.
Funny story: Here, it's a tradition that the small towns hold "fiestas" to raise money for things we take advantage of (nice roads, communication, upkeep to the school/community buildings, etc). Most of them have a contest for there to be a "Queen" of those fiestas. Well, this year, I'm in this contest! ha! Started off as me joking around, but now it's serious and I'm selling raffle tickets and everything. I've also been roped into doing a dance with some of the other contestants. In cowboy hats, plaid shirts and boots (my boots aren't cowboy, but super cute!) Haha I'm excited. Practice is tomorrow and Sunday. Here's to hoping my foot is also better for that! Updates and maybe pictures to come :)

WooHoo!
Good Morning ladies and gents!
I hope everyone is having a good hump day so far!
I FINALLLLLLLLLLY got those pesky 4lbs off from my trip home! YAYA! So now it's back to getting the next 30lbs off.
I'm sticking to it. NO. MATTER. WHAT.
So. Last week was pumpkin mania in my house. Bascially I just added pumpkin to things that sounded delicious.

Pumpkin Chili with cheese and avocado! :)
Pumpkin Pancakes with honey
I have a teeny tiny bit of pumpkin left, and just found a recipe to use it in oatmeal. Sounds like a good breakfast for tomorrow! yummm! :)
So this is slightly off topic, but one of the things I love most about living in Costa Rica is that it is perfectly normal to go "steal" things from someone elses farm. Probably when you're walking through it as a shortcut. (I know I said no more shortcuts, but I meant alone.)
You can seriously get anything, for example: tomatos (like the yummy cherry ones), bananas, plantains, mangos, avocado, lemons, limes, and other delicious fruits that I don't know the name of in English.
It saves some serious money. I will definitely miss this.
So I need to throw out a disclaimer from my last post. These things happen a lot. Whenever I walk somewhere, people offer me rides. I only take them if I have seen them at least around my town. That guy was just creepy in the comment of dating an American. The other thing is the dogs. Dogs here are c.r.a.z.y. They run after motorcycles and cars. Bark at you even if you walk by the house every single day and give them treats. The dog part was the scary part. The old man wasn't. Next time I'll explain better. Sorry if I gave you a fright!
Exercise update:
30 Day Shred has stopped. I got bored and was not wanting to do it. I'm going to try to mix it up with other exercise.
I'm going to start C25K ( http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml ) this week and see how that goes.
So that's whats happening for right now. Next week I'm going to the Close of Service conference in San Jose! We're staying at a fancy smancy hotel that has an awesome gym and a pool to swim laps. I will be taking advantage. Plus they have amazing breakfast and lunch. So I will HAVE to go to the gym.
Happy Hump Day!

Really?
<33 Happy Valentines Day! Feliz Dia del Amor y la Amistad! <33
I'm late. I know. Sorry.
Yesterday was interesting. Started off like any other day here. The boy and I made valentines (old school style--construction paper and glitter pens) and planned to just hang out and make dinner together. I had to teach english and we're broke, so no point of planning something big that won't happen. It was lovely.
Except for the part of the middle of my day.
I had to drop off some stuff in my town, about 3km away. So I decided I'd use it to work out. I got ready, put on some sunblock and hit the dirt road. Everything was going great. Dropped of the information and decided to take a shortcut to my house. (FYI: walking up hill, in the sun, with cars flying by and dust in your eyes is annoying.)
BIG MISTAKE.
First, I'm walking and this super creepy, old man stops me and starts talking to me (he's in a car) then gets upset because I don't accept a ride from him (you're weird and I don't know you!). Then he makes a comment asking if I'm married/single/living with a family/etc, I tell the truth, I live alone. His face LIGHTS up! Seriously! "ohhh you live alone? I've always wanted to date an American girl!" (Mind you he's like 60...yuck!) I reply, "oh thats nice, I do have a boyfriend...HERE!" He stutters something in his horrible english (I'm speaking to him in spanish mind you) and drives away.
Then I get to the shortcut (walking through farms, etc..this is normal here) and I forgot theres this man with like 70,000 dogs. Seriously theres like 75-80. About 5-6 are out loose. I've met the guy and never had any problems before, but I've always been with other people. Never alone. I am almost bit by 2 dogs. Teeth were 2cm from my calf when this guy comes out and gets them away from me. Then I'm walking and a different dog starts following me. I'm swatting at him like a crazy person with a stick (like thats going to do anything). He keeps following me, growling and barking all crazy like. I turn and start to walk/run faster. Trip over a branch and fall onto rocks. OUCH! My knee is a lovely shade of black, blue and purple today. And it hurts to walk/stand. It's going to be a longggg week.
Stupid dogman and his 70,000 dogs. Next time a shortcut will not be taken alone.
Oh well, life happens. Put some ice on it. haha
Everything else is going pretty well here. Just working and trying to be a good litter "dieter".
I'm supposed to go running/jogging/walking/something with my boyfriends sister tonight. And the eating healthy is going better (except for those M&Ms in my house!).

Ughhh
Rough start to a Friday morning.
For some reason I had a hard time getting through my work out today. Normally it's fine, not necessarily easy, but not as hard as today. :/ Hopefully it'll get better. I'm going to try some stretching/pilates because I think it's my muscles are too tight.
Then, I brought my fancy scale back with me. It made it alllllll through the trip, get to my house and it doesn't work. So yesterday I bought new batteries. Still doesn't work. :( UGHHHH! I want my fancy smancy scale to work gosh darnit!!
Oh well. Today is my cleaning/organizing day (which, if you know me, I say this everyday almost--but today really is!) SO it should be kinda relaxing and I don't have anything scheduled until 5:30pm.
But another UGh! Who schedules meetings at 5:30pm on a Friday night? My town. Thank you town. Luckily, Friday nights are like any other night here--asleep by 9 because theres n.o.t.h.i.n.g to do.
Asi es la vida (That's how life is)
So while at home I went to a women's conference up in the mountains (next year it should be at the beach..seriously too cold) and on Sunday morning we had a church service. I'm not really the go-to-church type, I have my beliefs and stick to them, try to be a good person, make good decisions and help others when I can, I think it's mostly the 9am services on a Sunday morning. Maybe if they were at like 2pm? After a nice brunch?
Ok, back to the point. This day I was especially cold and sleepy. But the sermon really caught my attention. She spoke about a quote from a song by Leonard Cohen. It says:
"There's a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in."
It really struck a cord with me. Like I still think about it everyday and remember that no matter what, nothing's perfect. And thats how our "light" shines through. Whatever you take to mean by light--God, individualism, etc.
I hope you have a good and healthy weekend! I know I will be out in the sunshine alot at some soccer games here in town! :)
Ps-2 blogs in a week! I'm getting bettttttttter!

Pretty Pretty Please...
...with a cherry ontop forgive me? Ok, whew! Thats out of the way.
I suck a blogging. Recently. I used to be good at it. What happened? I don't know. Let's fix it!
So since I've been back in the CR a lot has been happening. The dearest boy turned 21 (yay for being legal in US terms!) and so we had a little fiesta for him.
I got a cake, blew up balloons and hung party hats from my ceiling.
I also made the traditional arroz con pollo (rice with chicken) for his birthday dinner! yummmm

So after all the partying, this slowed down a little and I actually had to do work. boo. Only for about 3 days. Thennnnn...superbowl arrived! GO PACKERS! (Really go anyone against the Steelers hah)
We went into the capital city, San Jose, and met up with a bunch of other volunteers to watch the game and hang out. Where did we go you ask?
And we got wings and curly fries! yummmmmmmmmm!
So now I'm back in my little ole town, trying to be a good weight loser and am struggling. First I went home to all this delicious food, now I've barely paid attention since I've been back. I just want to hang out, preferrably on a beach (which isn't happening anytime soon) and drink strawberry daquiris...yum!
But anyway. I worked out this morning at 4:45am (long story as to why I was even awake at that ungodly hour) and am now in town to buy lots of veggies and fruits from the farmer's market. I'm going to stick to this plan, even if its the death of me! I figure if I die and am (finally) skinny, atleast I got to buy that ONE pair of skinny minnie jeans and wear them for a die (ok, so I have to die like a week after I'm skinny to make it count ).
The beautiful sunrise this morning
Today I'm making my chili again, but this time adding in some pumpkin to see how it works out. *fingers crossed* I'm also going to make pumpkin pancakes this weekend! :)
So I hope everyone is having a good February (I can't believe we're already a month in to 2011) and is doing their best to get healthy!
